• Analytic strategy and deployment: Serves as the clearinghouse for understanding, anticipating, and prioritizing information and analysis needs for the association's research, policy, advocacy, and communications teams, senior leadership, and members. Formulates analytics strategies and solutions and engages with teams and committees and key organizational decision-makers to ensure alignment with organizational strategy.

• Technical subject matter expert within the organization: Serves as a point of access to valuable analytics information for association members and staff. Provides expertise in data management, data collection, data analysis, data visualization, data distribution, key performance indicators, and metric creation. Promotes a data-informed organizational culture.

• Data management: Collaborates on the organization's data analytics and data warehousing needs with the director of information technology (IT). Collaborates with the director of IT to appropriately structure reports within association management software.

• Quality assurance and data governance: Collaborates on analytics audits, data governance processes, testing, quality assurance, quality control, and debugging of analytical and reporting code.

• Analytics implementation: Works with appropriate departments to create member benchmarking reports and products. Designs and maintains data programs; tracks, prioritizes, and manages analytics implementation initiatives across teams; serves as contact for analytics and reporting requests.

• Communication and decision support:. Presents and communicates data analytics results and procedures performed in a coherent and effective manner to both technical and non-technical audiences, including the development and distribution of white papers, briefs, presentations, member performance reports, infographics, maps, etc. Healthcare Research

Minimum Education and Experience for the Manager of Data Analytics:

• Master's degree in health services research, public health, public policy, public administration, biostatistics/statistics, epidemiology, or related fields.

• Seven or more years of experience in a position monitoring, managing, manipulating, and drawing insights from data, with two or more years of experience leading a team.

• Exceptional capability in analyzing and interpreting results of individual and group research, using standard and new research methods and techniques.

• Strong problem solving, quantitative, and analytical skills.

• Strong project management skills to coordinate multiple activities and meet tight deadlines, while maintaining attention to detail

• Experience performing data manipulation and analyses using SAS, STATA, Python, or R and/or other statistical analysis software.

• Experience with Structured Querying Language (SQL) and database principles

• Familiarity with health care policy related data sets, such as CMS Hospital Compare, HCRIS, federal regulatory files, etc.

IDA Summer Associate

Overview: The IDA Summer Associate Program provides students unique opportunity to use their quantitative and analytic skills to work on challenging real-world national security issues. Staff at the IDA Systems and Analyses Center (SAC) provide objective analyses of national security issues, particularly those requiring scientific and technical expertise, and conduct related research on other national challenges. Each year, IDA hires paid student associates at its Virginia and Washington, DC facilities to work for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer months. Attendance at the 8 week core period between June 6, 2022 and July 29, 2022 is required. An additional 2 weeks (or more) either before or after the core period is required for a complete 10 week internship. In some cases opportunities exist for associates to work a few weeks longer than the 10-week minimum.

The wage range is dependent on the field of study and years of education completed. For students living outside the area, IDA pays for one instance of round-trip travel. Associates are responsible for living expenses during the summer.

Qualifications:

  • We seek highly qualified students with strong academic backgrounds. Our preference for the program is graduate students, but we will consider undergraduates who are rising seniors. In either case, students must be returning to an academic institution in the fall to continue their educational pursuits.

Overview

The Science and Technology Policy Institute (STPI) is a congressionally chartered, Federally Funded Research and Development Center operated by the Institute for Defense Analyses (IDA).

STPI provides independent analytical support to the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and other federal departments and agencies on science and technology (S&T) policy issues. The STPI Science Policy Fellowship Program provides recent bachelor’s or master’s degree recipients a unique opportunity to use their critical thinking and analytic skills to work on a diverse set of challenges in S&T policy areas, including space sciences, innovation and competitiveness, energy, health and life sciences, national security, biotechnology, information technologies, and STEM education.

Responsibilities

Fellows will work with teams of researchers to support a wide variety of S&T policy-related tasks. Duties may include conducting survey-based and interview-based research, database development, use of data visualization tools, use of statistical techniques, and other qualitative and quantitative methods to perform project-driven policy analysis. Fellows will have an opportunity to work on one independent research project that will contribute to the scientific, technical, or policy literature. Over the course of the two-year program, experiences will include:

The successful candidate will be the go-to person representing NCCS, acting as an internal and external resource on anything nonprofit-data related.

Responsibilities:

Manage the National Center for Charitable Statistics, acting as the internal and external resource for nonprofit data housed at Urban. Responsibilities include::

Build and manage data pipelines to clean/validate raw 990 data from the IRS annually and synthesize findings into the annual Nonprofit Sector in Brief report.

Develop opportunities to leverage NCCS to strengthen and advance cross-sector or Urban-wide research projects, building institutional knowledge within Urban on use cases for the data.

Conceptualize and manage implementation of changes to the current website to streamline user experience (e.g. development of FAQs, streamline data dictionaries, etc.)

Act as NCCS champion to external partners, showcasing the power and utility of the data for different use cases.

Field questions from nonprofit researchers and journalists interested in using NCCS data, directing them to the correct resources and preforming ad-hoc data analys

Lead quantitative research in the Center for Nonprofits and Philanthropy (CNP); mentor and/or help manage early career research and data science staff in the CNP and across centers.

What you’ll bring: The successful candidate will

Data & Reporting Platforms Coordinator: HBI

HBI is currently seeking a full-time Data & Reporting Platforms Coordinator. In this role, you will:

  • Maintain user accounts, security profiles, and general troubleshooting for Social Solutions’ Efforts to Outcome (ETO).
  • Assist with configuring or re-configuring the ETO system as needed.
  • Develop and implement systems and/or processes that ensure accuracy and integrity of ETO data. Evaluate data to identify errors, trends, and patterns.
  • Develop and conduct systems training, and training documentation, for all level of staff.
  • Through research and collaboration with other staff; design, create, and present custom SAP Business Objects reports to support data-driven evaluation of performance measurement, contractual obligations, and data integrity.
  • Query, verify, manipulate, merge, and/or analyzes large data sets from disparate sources into concise reports or other data tools/structures.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of skills, training and experience
  • 3-5 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of principles of accurate data entry, querying, data analysis, and reporting. Grasps relationships and interdependencies between data sets.
  • Intermediate business intelligence software skills required (e.g. SAP Business Objects, etc.), advanced skills preferred.
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills required (e.g., advanced formulas, pivot tables, Vlookups, etc.), advanced skills preferred.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated proactive approach to problem solving is needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills needed with the ability to explain technical information to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Excellent customer service and follow-up skills are needed.
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to learn and stay up on new technologies.
  • Flexibility and adaptability is needed in order to work effectively in a dynamic and evolving environment.
